Ohio State Lands 2025 Verbal From Canadian Freestyler Taya Hutchison
NEW COMMIT: The Ohio State University has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Windsor, Ontario native Taya Hutchison.
She will join Carrie Furbee and KK LeBlanc as a member of the Buckeyes’ Class of 2029.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic career at The Ohio State University! A huge thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates for supporting me along this journey. Thank you to the Coaches at Ohio State for providing me with this amazing opportunity! Can’t wait to be a part of this team! Go Bucks!!!”
Hutchison does her club swimming with Windsor Aquatic Club and placed eighth in the 50 free at the Ontario Junior International last month. She sprinted to eighth in both the 50m free and 100m free at the Speedo Canadian Championships in August.
She was a member of Team Ontario in the 2022 Canada Games, at just 14 years old.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.30
- 100 free – 50.37
- 200 free – 1:51.53
- 100 breast – 1:06.57
- 100 fly – 56.57
The Buckeyes were the 2023 Big Ten champions and finished sixth at the NCAA Championships.
