Ohio State Buckeyes Add NCSA Finalist Lucy Malys to Class of 2026
NEW COMMIT: The Ohio State University has received their fourth verbal commitment for their growing Class of 2026 from Lucy Malys of Clarkston, Mich.
She will join Sydney Davids, Jessica Eden and Sanna Peterson in Columbus at the start of the 2022-23 season.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the ohio state university!! A huge thank you to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for supporting me through this process and beyond. Go bucks!!”
A U.S. Open qualifier, Malys trains year-round with OLY Swimming and has achieved several best times since the pandemic. She finished fifth in both the 500 free and mile at the 2019 NCSA Spring Championships while taking seventh in the 800m free and eighth in the 1500m free at the NCSA LCM Championships in Summer 2019.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:49.60
- 500 free – 4:47.90
- 1000 free – 9:56.03
- 1650 free – 16:29.11
- 200 back – 2:02.13
- 100 fly – 56.06
- 200 fly – 1:58.85
- 200 IM – 2:03.78
- 400 IM – 4:17.95
Even with just under two years to go before arriving on campus in the fall of 2022, Malys will make a big impact in a number of different events. She would’ve placed in the B-final of the 200 fly, C-final of the 400 IM, and scored in the top-14 of the mile at the 2020 Big Ten Championships where the Buckeyes clinched the team title.
