Ohio 50/100 Free State Champ Carrie Furbee Stays Local, Commits to Buckeyes For 2025
NEW COMMIT: The Ohio State University has secured its second verbal commitment for the Class of 2025, this time from local standout Carrie Furbee of Columbus, Ohio.
She will join KK LeBlanc as a member of the Buckeyes’ Class of 2029.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at THE Ohio State University! Thank you so much to my family, my teammates, my friends, my coaches Kyle Goodrich and Susan Ferguson, and everyone else who has supported me and helped me reach this point. I am so grateful to Coach Dorenkott and the entire OSU coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. GO BUCKS”
Furbee does her club swimming with Central Ohio Aquatics and most recently placed 18th in the 50m free at Junior Nationals after taking second in that event at Columbus Sectionals this past summer. She finished 23rd in the 50 free at Juniors East last winter.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.06
- 100 free – 50.95
- 200 free – 1:52.50
- 50m free – 25.92
- 100m free – 57.53
Currently a junior at Grandview Heights High School, Furbee swept the 50/100 free combo at the 2023 Ohio DII State Championships. She took seventh and 13th, respectively, in those events at the state meet during her freshman season.
The Buckeyes were the 2023 Big Ten champions and finished sixth at the NCAA Championships.
