Oakland Swimming & Diving Head Coach Pete Hoyland Analyzes 2015-2016 Schedule
Oakland head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach Pete Hovland announced the 2015-16 schedule on Wednesday. The two-time defending league champion Golden Grizzlies will look to successfully defend their titles at home as the 2016 Horizon League Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at the Oakland Aquatic Center (Feb. 24-27).
The season begins with the annual homecoming Alumni Meet (Sept. 19) and Black and Gold Meet (Sept. 25).
Oakland hosts six teams in four meets with the first coming against Green Bay (Oct. 10) followed by the women’s team hosting Duquesne (Nov. 6). Both squads will compete against Wright State and UIC (Nov. 14) with Cleveland State and Xaiver (Jan. 30) rounding out the home slate before the league championships.
The road portion of the schedule begins with the men traveling to Notre Dame for the Dennis Stark Relays (Oct. 9) and the women competing at the Tom Stubbs Relays in Bowling Green, Ohio (Oct. 16).
Both teams will also travel locally for meets at Wayne State (Oct. 30) and Michigan State (Jan. 23) while the diving team travels to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the Eastern Michigan Invite (Dec. 4-5).
Other dual team road meets include the Zippy Invite in Akron, Ohio (Dec. 4-6), Kenyon, Cincinnati and Olivet Nazarene (Jan. 15-16) concluding with the women at Bowling Green along with Youngstown State (Feb. 5).
