NEW COMMIT: Louisville, Ky. native and U.S. Open qualifier Jack Anderson has announced his verbal commitment via social media to the University of Notre Dame for the fall of 2022.

He will join Tate Bacon of Wake Forest, N.C. as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am beyond humbled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame! Thank you to my family, coaches, and friends who have supported me along the way. I’m excited to be a part of the Notre Dame family! Go Irish!! ☘️☘️ ☘️”

A talented IMer and mid-distance freestyler, Anderson does his club swimming with Lakeside Swim Team and owns several Junior National and U.S. Open cuts. He most recently placed eighth in the 400m IM and 18th in the 200m IM at the Des Moines TYR Pro Swim Series in March after finishing 20th in both the mile and the 400 IM at Juniors East in December.

In summer 2019, he placed fifth in the 1500m free at Greensboro Sectionals before going on to earn two best times at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 200 IM – 1:49.73
  • 400 IM – 3:54.71
  • 200 free – 1:39.07
  • 500 free – 4:28.24
  • 1000 free – 9:29.02
  • 1650 free – 15:41.53

Currently a junior at Saint Xavier High School, Anderson is already a four-time Kentucky State Championship finalist. He was the runner-up in both the 200 free and 500 free as a sophomore while taking eighth and sixth, respectively, in those events during his freshman season.

He also swam on the winning 4×100 free relay that just missed the state record en route to helping his team clinch their 32nd-consecutive state championship title in 2020.
