Notre Dame Pick Up Class of 2026 Verbal from Futures Finalist Michael Flynn
NEW COMMIT: It may be Halloween, but there’s nothing scary about this news for Notre Dame: they have just received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Michael Flynn of Brookfield, Ill.
He will join Dillon Edge, Jack Anderson and Tate Bacon as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2026.
He told Swimming World:
“I am extremely humbled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame. I would like to thank all my coaches, teammates, friends, and family who have helped me get to where I am today. Go Irish ☘️”
Primarily a freestyler, Flynn trains year-round with Lyons Swim Club and owns several Junior National standards. He most recently was the runner-up in the mile at Illinois Seniors after earning a best time at the Toyota U.S. Open in December.
In Summer 2019, he recorded five top-10 finishes at Illinois LCM Seniors which included a silver-medal winning performance in the 1500m free. Flynn then went on to earn 100% best times at Des Moines Futures where he placed fifth in the 400m free, sixth in the 1500m free, and 11th in both the 200m and 1500m free.
His best times include:
- 100 free – 45.97

Under head coach Michael Litzinger, the Fighting Irish finished sixth at the 2020 ACC Championships.
