Notre Dame Adds Ellie Butler To Class Of 2025
NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Ellie Butler of Orinda, California.
She will join Maddie Faikish and Tess Heavner in South Bend next fall.
Regarding her commitment, she said:

Butler does her club swimming with Crow Canyon Sharks and placed second in both the 200m free and 200m fly at Marin Sectionals back in March after taking 12th in the 200 fly at Juniors East in December. Last summer, she finaled in the 100m free at Sacramento Futures.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 54.85
- 200 fly – 1:59.61
- 100 free – 51.21
- 200 free – 1:49.28
- 500 free – 4:56.93
- 200 back – 2:03.12
Currently a junior at Carondelet High School, Butler finished fifth in the 100 fly and 200 free at the 2023 CIF North Coast Section Championships. She then went on to compete in the 100 fly at the CIF State Championships as a sophomore, too.
The Fighting Irish finished eighth at the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
