Northwestern Men, Women, Sweep Cincinnati Behind Sophie Martin

The Northwestern men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept Cincinnati with nearly identical scores on Friday.

The Northwestern women won 199.5-110.5, while the men won 188-11.

In the women’s meet, the Wildcats started with Grey Davis, Sophie Martin, Nikki Venema and Lindsay Ervin winning the 400 medley relay in 3:37.55.

Venema won the 50 free in 22.79. Ervin won the 100 free in 49.33. Martin won the 200 breast in 2:12.82 and 200 IM in 1:59.92.

Northwestern’s Luiza Comini Lima won the 1000 free in 9:48.87. Sydney Smith won the 200 free in 1:48.38. Hana Shimizu-Bowers won the 200 butterfly in 2:00.59. Claire Mehok won the 200 back in 1:59.01. Zoe Nordmann won the 500 free in 4:48.78.

Caroline Li won 1-meter diving with 273.45 points. Isabelle Chen won 3-meter diving with 284.63 points.

Cincinnati’s Ellie Schrank won the 100 backstroke in 54.79. Joleigh Crye won the 100 breast in 59.38 and 100 butterfly in 53.53.

Jessica Davis, Kaylee Nagel, Sonja Aarsvole and Crye won the 200 free relay (1:31.78) for the Bearcats.

In the men’s meet, Northwestern’s David Gerchick, Tyler Lu, Caden Duncan and Stuart Seymour won the 400 medley relay in 3:10.22.

Seymour won the 200 free in 1:38.88 and 100 fly in 47.60. Ly won the 100 breaststroke in 54.12. Duncan won the 50 free in 20.66 and 100 free in 44.16.

Josh Staples won the 1000 free (9:04.58) and 500 free (4:24.60). Diego Nosack won the 200 fly in 1:46.86.

Northwestern’s Kyle Ly won 3-meter diving with 384.30 points. Ly swept both boards by winning the 1-meter event with a score of 328.43.

Seymour, Duncan, Chris Leung and Gerchik won the 200 free relay (1:20.34).

Cincinnati’s Hunter Gubeno won the 100 back in 46.87, 200 back in 1:41.11 and 200 IM in 1:46.82. Kyle Bumgardner won the 200 breast in 1:58.17.
