Northwestern Adds Verbal from Olympic Trials Qualifier Justine Murdock for 2021-22 Season
NEW COMMIT: Bloomfield Hills, Mich. backstroker Justine Murdock has verbally committed to Northwestern University beginning at the start of the 2021-22 season.
She will join Kenisha Gupta, Emily Trieschmann, and Ashley Strouse in Evanston, Ill. as members of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Northwestern University! Thank you to my coaches, teammates, family and friends who have supported me throughout this long but fun process. I can’t wait to be a wildcat!! ??”
Murdock swims year-round with Atlantis Swimming and owns the Olympic Trials cut in both backstroke events. She placed fourth in the 200 back and 17th in the 100 back at Juniors East in December, achieving best times in both races. Last summer, she won both the 100m back and 200m back at NCSAs where she was also the 50m back runner-up.
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 26.15
- 100 back – 54.36
- 200 back – 1:56.48
- 400 IM – 4:29.02
Also competing for Cranbrook Kingswood High School, Murdock is a six-time Michigan DIII State Championship finalist. She won the 100 back and 200 IM as a junior after placing first and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also finished second in those events as a freshman.
