Northern Michigan Adds Wisconsin DII State Finalist Emma Clifford to Class of 2025
Emma Clifford verbally commits to Northern Michigan.
NEW COMMIT: Northern Michigan University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Emma Clifford of Wausau, Wis.
She will suit up for the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2025 along with Zoe DeKievit, Ella Houwers, and Faith Sill.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Northern Michigan University! I can’t wait to spend the next four years in the UP! Go wildcats! “
Clifford does her club swimming with the Woodson Y Northern Swimmers and most recently earned two best times at the Wisconsin 13&O State Championships in March while competing at YMCA Nationals in April 2019. Last summer, she finaled in the 200m back at Wisconsin 13&O LCM States.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 25.29
- 100 free – 54.64
- 100 back 58.87
- 200 back – 2:07.90
- 100 fly – 58.28
Also competing for Wausau East High School, Clifford is a four-time Wisconsin DII State Championship finalist. She finished seventh in the 100 fly and eighth in the 100 back while taking fifth and ninth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
Under head coach Heidi Voigt, the Wildcats won their seventh GLIAC Championship title in school history and their first since 2002.
