Northern Kentucky Clippers’ Selina Reil Verbally Commits to Alabama
NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Independence, Ky. native Selina Reil.
A versatile swimmer, Reil does her club swimming with Northern Kentucky Clippers and owns five Summer Juniors standards. She placed seventh in the 1500m free and eighth in the 200m breast at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals in March. Last summer, she raced two events at Junior Nationals after recording a pair of best times at Columbus TYR Pro Swim Series.
Also competing for Dixie Heights High School, Reil is a five-time Kentucky State Championship finalist. She was the 500 free runner-up and took seventh in the 100 breast as a junior after placing sixth in the latter and ninth in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Alabama! I wouldnt be here if it wasn’t for the support of my family, friends, and coaches! #rolltideroll”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:04.46
- 200 breast – 2:16.81
- 200 IM – 2:06.48
- 400 IM – 4:22.33
- 500 free – 4:54.87
- 1000 free – 10:06.14
- 1650 free – 16:54.14
Reil’s versatility will be extremely valuable for the Crimson Tide when she arrives in Tuscaloosa as a member of the class of 2024. Although she’s just shy of scoring range at the SEC Championships, she would’ve ranked in the top-8 in five different events on Alabama’s roster this past season.
