Northeastern Pulls In Another Class of 2026 Verbal from Junior National Qualifier Cambria Semmen
NEW COMMIT: Orlando, Fla. native and sprint freestyler Cambria Semmen will head to a colder climate for her college career after verbally committing to Northeastern University beginning in the fall of 2022.
She will join Marcela Scaramuzza and Kotoko Blair as a member of the Huskies’ Class of 2026.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am truly blessed to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at Northeastern University! I want to thank my coaches, parents, siblings, and teammates for supporting me every step of the way, and guiding me to become the person I am today. I am also very thankful for Coach Joe, who has taught me the true importance of hard work and perseverance through it all. Finally, huge thanks to Coach Roy and Coach Ryan who have given me this incredible opportunity to swim for such an amazing team and school. Go Huskies! ?”
A Junior National qualifier, Semmen finaled in three events at the Florida Virtual Championships in December after earning three best times at the Florida OT Qualifier last February. In Summer 2019, she grabbed silver in the 50m free and bronze in the 100m free at Florida LCM Seniors where she recorded three additional top-12 finishes.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.38
- 100 free – 51.56
- 200 free – 1:53.03
Currently a junior at Winter Park High School, Semmen is a four-time individual Florida 4A State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 free in 2020 while taking ninth in the former event during her sophomore season.
Semmen will add valuable depth both individually and on relays for the Huskies, who are also bringing in a large and talented class in the fall of 2021. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 50 free as well as the B-final of the 100 free at least year’s conference meet.
Northeastern finished seventh overall in the team standings at the 2020 CAA Championships under head coach Roy Coates.
