North Carolina Swim Club Coach Charged with Sexual Abuse
Aaron Philip Key, a swim coach with a club in High Point, North Carolina, was arrested Tuesday and charged over an alleged sexual abuse of a child at the club.
The 27-year-old was charged with 12 counts of a statutory sex offense with a child and six counts of indecent liberties with a child.
The child reported in November that Key, a Raleigh resident then coaching with a swim club that the authorities declined to identify, had assaulted them over multiple years. A specific time span of abuse was not released by the High Point Police Department, but the local Fox affiliate reported that the abuse lasted from the time the child was seven until they were 13.
An investigation of those allegations led to the charges and Key’s arrest. Key is being held in Guilford County jail on a $250,000 secured bond.
The police are seeking more information in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the High Point Police Department at 336-883-3224, Crime Stoppers of High Point at 336-889-4000 or to contact Detective P. Mustain at 336-887-7964.
