North Carolina 1A/2A State Finalist Emily Carpenter Will Become a Longhorn With 2022 Verbal to Texas
NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has picked up their sixth verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Emily Carpenter of Chapel Hill, N.C.
She will join Sienna Schellenger, Meghan DiMartile, Lydia Jacoby, Chase Davison and Lindsey Hosch in Austin as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2026.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.61
- 100 free – 51.72
- 200 free – 1:50.15
- 500 free – 4:55.77
- 100 back – 55.55
- 200 back – 1:58.92
- 200 IM – 2:04.55
- 400 IM – 4:23.51
A versatile swimmer, Carpenter does her club swimming with TAC Titans and most recently collected three gold medals at the TAC Titans’ Tar Heel States in March after earning four best times at Cary Sectionals earlier that month.
Currently a junior at Carrboro High School, Carpenter is a six-time individual North Carolina 1A/2A State Championship finalist. She placed third in the 200 free and fourth in the 500 free in 2021 while taking third and second, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
Under head coach Carol Capitani, the Longhorns won their 10th-straight Big 12 team title in 2021.
The Longhorns are bringing in an impressive Class of 2025 that includes Erica Sullivan, Riley Courtney, Channing Hanley, Ava Collinge, Jordan Morgan, Morgan Brophy, Ellie Andrews and Olivia McMurray.
