North Baltimore Aquatic Club’s Lucas Calderon Lends Utah First Class of 2025 Verbal

NEW COMMIT: The University of Utah has scored their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Baltimore, Md. native Lucas Calderon.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Utah. I chose the University of Utah because of its great coaching staff and amazing team members. A few things that really stood out to me about Utah were the camaraderie of the swimmers, and the beautiful campus in Salt Lake City. GO UTES!”
A talented sprinter, Calderon does his club swimming with North Baltimore Aquatic Club and is a Junior National qualifier. He most recently collected gold in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 free at Maryland Seniors after doing the same at the NBAC Christmas Invitational in December. Last summer, he won the 50m free and was the 100m free runner-up at Maryland LCM Seniors.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.45
- 100 free – 45.82
- 100 fly – 51.03
When he suits up for the Utes as a member of the class of 2025, Calderon will add valuable depth to their sprint freestyle group and he’ll join a training squad led by Cooper Deryk and Finn O’Haimhirgin. Under head coach Joe Dykstra, Utah finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Pac-12 Championships.
