Nittany Lions Collect In-State Verbal from Penn Charter Aquatic Club’s Abby Henderson
NEW COMMIT: Penn State has earned yet another verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season, this time from Newtown, Penn. native Abby Henderson, who will join Morgan Rinn, Lizzie Danforth and Mary Brinker in State College next fall.
Henderson does her club swimming with Penn Charter Aquatic Club and recently earned bronze medals in the 100/200 back combo at Middle Atlantic Seniors where she earned 100% best times. Also competing for Council Rock High School North, she is a three-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist. She placed seventh in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 IM as a junior after placing 14th in the 100 free during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:

Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.88
- 100 free – 51.73
- 200 free – 1:51.15
- 500 free – 4:59.10
- 100 back – 55.97
- 200 back – 1:59.82
Henderson has made significant improvements over the past two years, dropping three seconds in the 100 back, five seconds in the 200 back and nine seconds in the 500 free. When she suits up for the Nittany Lions as a member of the class of 2024, she’ll add her talents to a backstroke training group led by Marie Schobel and Brooke Matthias.
