New Mexico State Receives Verbal Commitment from Emilee Ferrari of Nation’s Capital Swim Club
NEW COMMIT: New Mexico State University has received their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Emilee Ferrari of Annandale, Va.
Ferrari will be returning to the state where she first started swimming at eight years old.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at New Mexico State University! I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have helped me get here. #goaggies”
Ferrari, who trains year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club, last competed at the Potomac Valley Junior Championships where she earned two best times. In summer 2019, she raced the 50m free at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors before going on to notch a lifetime best at the Potomac Valley LCM 13&O Championships.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 24.05
- 50 free – 23.36 (relay split)
- 100 free – 52.65
- 100 back – 59.40
- 200 IM – 2:16.82
Also competing for W.T. Woodson High School, Ferrari has competed at the Virginia Class 6 State Championships the last two seasons. She finished ninth in the 50 free during her junior season and owns multiple school relay records.
When she suits up for the Aggies as a member of the Class of 2025, Ferrari will add valuable depth both individually and on relays. She will add her talents to a training group that’ll include Neza Kocijan, Airam Oliva-Aun, and Aimee Burton.
Under head coach Rick Pratt, New Mexico State finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Western Athletic Conference Championships.
