NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Jack Januario of Amherst, N.H. has pledged his verbal commitment to Georgetown University beginning in the fall of 2021.

He will join Jack Brearton, Stephen Kim, and Ansen Meyer in Washington, D.C. as a member of the Hoyas’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Georgetown University! I would like to thank my coaches, family, friends, and teammates who have helped me throughout the years. #HoyaSaxa”

A talented distance freestyler and backstroker, Januario does his club swimming with Executive Health & Swim Club and last competed at the New England 15-18 Age Group Championships in March where he posted five top-4 finishes. He earned two best times at Juniors East in December before going on to grab silver in the 500/1000/1650 at New England Seniors.

In Summer 2019, he was a seven-time finalist at New England LCM Seniors and placed ninth in the 800m free as well as 15th in both the 1500m free and 200m back at Geneva Futures.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:41.40
  • 500 free – 4:29.72
  • 1000 free – 9:23.10
  • 1650 free – 15:46.33
  • 100 back – 51.93
  • 200 back – 1:49.84

Also competing for Bishop Guertin High School, Januario has earned a total of nine New Hampshire State Championship titles over the last three years. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 200/500 free during both his sophomore and junior seasons and swam on his team’s winning 4×50 medley and 4×100 free relays in 2020.

Januario will make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Hoyas, as his best time in the 500 free would rank No. 6 in program history. He would’ve placed in the top-8 of the 200 back, 500 free, and the mile at the 2020 Big East Championships where Georgetown finished second overall in the team standings under head coach Jack Leavitt.
