Nevada Blue Chip Erin Emery Chooses Minnesota
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, September 28. In another recruiting coup for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, following a huge get in Zoe Avestruz today, Junior Open Water World team member Erin Emery chose to be a future Golden Gopher.
Emery, ranked 16th in the Class of 2015 and the top swimmer in the State of Nevada by CollegeSwimming.com, is one of the top distance freestylers in the class not named Katie Ledecky.
The Sandpiper of Nevada has a tremendous resume in the distance freestyle events with a 16:11.96 in the 1650-yard freestyle as well as a 16:33.69 in the 1500-meter freestyle.
Emery, who preps at Palo Verde High, has also clocked a 9:45.46 in the 1000-yard freestyle during her career.
She also has some ability as the swims get shorter with a 4:46.07 in the 500-yard free as well as a 1:49.50 in the 200-yard free, not to mention a 4:13.18 in the 400-meter free and an 8:41.49 in the 800-meter free events.
Expect Emery to get even better when she joins the distance juggernaut that is Minnesota swimming.
