NEW COMMIT: Alana Palmer has verbally committed to swim for the University of Wisconsin beginning with the 2018-2019 season. She joins Lillie Hosack in the Badgers’ Class of 2022.
Palmer told Swimming World,
“What helped me make my decision to choose the University of Wisconsin was the connection I had with the team, coaches, and community. As I walked around the campus I couldn’t help but feel that this was the place for me. I can’t wait for my next chapter as a badger! On Wisconsin!!”
The Nebraska native trains with Lincoln Select where she is a strong sprint freestyler who also extends a bit into backstroke. Her best SCY times are:
- 50 Free 23.07
- 100 Free 50.49
- 200 Free 1:48.00

Swimming for Lincoln Southwest High School at the 2017 Nebraska High School State Championships, Palmer helped lead the team to the state title. She was on a dominating 200 medley relay before capturing the 200 freestyle in impressive fashion. She was also 50 freestyle runner up by a mere .03 seconds. Palmer was also a member of the state title winning 400 freestyle relay.
At the 2017 Big Ten Championships Palmer would have been a 200 freestyle C finalist. With her best times she would have been just outside scoring range in the 50 and 100 freestyles as well.
