NCSA Champion Madison Smith Verbally Commits to Michigan

NEW COMMIT: The University of Michigan has received its fifth verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Madison Smith of Brookeville, Maryland.

She will join Hannah BellardAnna BoemerTaylor Morris, and Mattea Sokolow as a member of the Wolverines’ Class of 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Michigan!! I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for helping me get to this point. I can’t wait to be a part of such an incredible team! GO BLUE!!?〽️

Smith, who trains year-round with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club, most recently competed at the RMSC Holiday Invitational where she won three events and achieved six personal bests. This past summer, she earned gold in the 400m free at Potomac Valley Seniors before going on to win that event as well as take bronze in the 1500m free at the NCSA Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 1650 free – 16:35.76
  • 1000 free – 9:59.02
  • 500 free – 4:47.66
  • 200 free – 1:48.91
  • 100 free – 50.71

Also competing for Good Counsel High School, Smith placed fifth in the 500 free and 10th in the 200 free as a freshman at the Washington Metropolitan Prep School League Championships.
