NCAP’s Sofie Davis Verbally Commits to Kentucky Class of 2024
NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has gained a verbal commitment from Lovettsville, Va. native and high school junior Sofie Davis for the fall of 2020.
Davis does her club swimming with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and owns a pair of Winter Juniors cuts. She posted three top-25 finishes at NCSAs this summer after placing sixth in the 100m breast and eighth in the 200m breast at Potomac Valley LCM Seniors. She had six finals appearances and recorded a trio of best times at ISCA Junior Nationals in March.
Also swimming for The Madeira School, Davis is a four-time Virginia Independent School State Championship finalist. She finished second in the 100 breast and fourth in the 50 free as a sophomore after placing fourth in the former as well as third in the 200 IM during her freshman season. Davis has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to further my swimming career at the University of Kentucky and cannot wait to join such an amazing team. I am so thankful for all my friends, family and coaches who have helped me along the way. Go CATS!”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:03.97
- 200 breast – 2:20.03
- 200 IM – 2:04.50
When she suits up for the Wildcats as a member of the class of 2024, Davis will join a breaststroke group that includes Bailey Bonnett and Jaclyn Hill. Although she sits just outside of scoring range at the SEC Championships, she has continuously made improvements each season with two years to go before arriving in Kentucky.
