NCAA Eligibility Rules For Freshmen Athletes Are Repealed
Left Sidebar
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has redefined what constitutes an acceptable high school course for incoming college athletes, ending more than four years of battle with parents and school officials who complained that the course parameters were abitrary and often irrelevant, according to a story in The New York Times.
Critics said the regulations delayed or canceled the athletic scholarships of hundreds of good students each year, including National Merit Scholars and others with near-perfect grade point averages.
The changes will affect potential student-athletes as soon as this fall.
