NCAA Division II Psych Sheets Released; Queens Women, Drury Men Bring the Most Swimmers

The NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships will take place March 9-12 in Greensboro, N.C., and the NCAA has released the women’s and men’s psych sheets for that four-day event. Last season, Queens University won its sixth-straight titles for both women and men, and while the Queens women dominated the competition with 695 points (more than 250 ahead of second-place Drury), the men’s meet was much closer, as Queens beat Drury by a score of 561-531.

This season, the Queens women are set to bring the most swimmers to the national championship meet. On the women’s side, Queens will have 18 swimmers, followed by Drury with 16 and Indy with 14. Queens’ roster includes top seeds Sophia Lange (1000 free and 1650 free) and Monica Gumina (200 free and 500 free). Colorado Mesa’s Lily Borgenheimer is the only swimmer to be the top seed in three events, the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 breast, while Nova Southeastern’s Celina Marquez enters with the fastest time in both backstroke races.

In the men’s meet, Drury and Indy will each bring 16 swimmers, while Queens will attempt to win another national title with just 12 athletes in individual events. Drury is led by Dominik Karacic, the top seed in the 100 fly, and Karol Ostrowski, seeded first in the 100 free, while Indy’s top seeds include Cedric Buessing in the 400 IM and Likith Selvaraj Prema in the 100 breast. For Queens, Alexander Kunert tops entrants in the 200 IM and 200 fly, while Matej Dusa enters first in the 50 free. Nova Southeastern’s Alessandro Alessandrini is first in the 500 and 1000 free (and second in the 1650 free), and Colorado Mesa’s Benjamin Sampson is seeded first in both backstroke races.
