In the team battle, Drury spoiled the Queens party a tad. The team competition leaders had posted the top three times in prelims, but they were forced to settle for 1-3-5 with Drury inserting itself into second and fourth. It was very close to nabbing 1-3.
Giulia Grasso won in 4:48.80, just .03 ahead of Drury’s Bec Cross. Sophie Lange of Queens, who still has the 200 fly to come, was third, .02 ahead of Allison Weber. Francesca Bains took fifth.

A tight prelims bestowed a surprise at night. Well two surprises.
The third seed from prelims, Giulio Burgnoni, surged in the final, using the fastest final 50 to clock in at 46.77 and earn the Delta State senior the victory. Tim Stollings, the 100 fly champ, was second, while 200 IM champ Emanuel Fava and Drury’s Nathan Bighetti tied for third in 47.07.
The second surprise? The fastest time of the whole shebang came from the B final: Karol Ostrowski, who failed to make the A final with a lackluster swim this morning, vented his anger with a 46.55, the quickest in the evening. It was good for ninth.
