NCAA Division II Championships Day 3 Finals: Nova Southeastern, Indy Build Leads
The NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships continued from Indianapolis with the Day 3 finals.
Coming into the day, Indianapolis led the field, ahead of McKendree and Tampa in the men’s meet. For the women, Nova Southeastern led Indianapolis and Drury and continued to build the lead.
The events of the session are the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 3-meter diving for the men and the 400 medley relay.

NCAA Division II: Women’s 100 Butterfly
Carson-Newman senior Manon Compagner dropped nearly a second from prelims to win the women’s 100 butterfly to start the session. Compagner got to the wall in 52.45.
Defending champion Ann Carozza of West Chester was second in 52.62.
Lynn’s Luna Mertins finished third (53.54), followed by West Florida’s Stefanie Markwardt (53.89), IUP’s Paige Mikesell (54.03), Grand Valley’s Alysa Wager (54.31), Saint Leo’s Isabelle Sering (54.67) and Delta State’s Mikayla Kloth (55.84).

NCAA Division II: Men’s 100 Butterfly
McKendree senior Gregg Litchinsky dropped half a second from prelims to win the men’s race by a couple of tenths. He reached the wall in 45.82 and led a 1-3 finish with Jackson Lustig (46.17).
Nova Southeastern’s Steven Aimable was second (46.11).
Findlay took the fourth and fifth spots with Timothy Stollings (46.22) and Camilio Marrugo (46.27), followed by Drury’s Dominik Karacic (46.70), Henderson State’s Jace Pinckney (46.95) and Indy’s Kael Yorke (47.30).

NCAA Division II: Women’s 400 IM
Nova Southeastern’s May Low dropped four seconds from her prelims time to win the 400 IM by nearly two seconds. The sophomore got to the wall in 4:13.80 to claim the title and lead a 1-3 finish with senior Savanna Best taking third in 4:17.07.
Drury sophomore Aurora Duncan finished second in 4:15.43.
Colorado Mesa’s Lily Borgenheimer finished fourth (4:19.48), followed by Indy’s Andrea Gomez Espinosa (4:20.64), Colorado Mesa’s Sophia Bains (4:20.83) and Grand Valley’s Katie O’Connell (4:21.95).
Indy’s Kaitlyn McCoy was disqualified for a false start.

Tampa junior Santiago Corredor was able to hold off Indy’s Cedric Buessing by 11 hundredths of as second in a thrilling finish to the men’s 400 IM.
Corredor got to the wall in 3:45.30 to finish ahead of Buessing (3:45.41).
Colorado Mesa’s Benjamin Sampson wasn’t far behind, either, finishing in 3:45.98.
Drury’s Joao Nogueira was fourth (3:47.66), followed by Tampa’s Hayden Curley (3:48.46), Nova Southeastern’s Jarryd Baxter (3:48.64), Grand Valley’s Keegan Hawkins (3:51.61) and Drury’s Andrew Rodriguez (3:53.09).

NCAA Division II: Women’s 200 Free
Freshmen took the top two spots in this women’s 200 free.
Nova Southeastern’s Emilia Ronningdal won the title in 1:47.11, to finish a half second ahead of Indy’s Mika Heideyer (1:47.51).
Another Nova swimmer was third as sophomore Emily Trieschmann took third in 1:47.88.
Henderson State sophomore Kiara Pozvai was fourth (1:48.70), followed by Drury’s Josephine Bushell (1:48.80), IUP’s Paige Mikesell (1:48.32), swimming a double, Drury’s Ellie Walker (1:49.50) and Carson-Newman’s Manon Compagner (1:40.51), also swimming a double after her win.

NCAA Division II: Men’s 200 Free
After a 1-2 freshman finish in the women’s event, it was a 1-2 sophomore finish for the men’s 200 free.
Nova Southeastern’s Thomas Flower won the title in 1:34.71, holding off Grand Valley’s Matthew Bosch (1:34.87), by 16 hundredths.
McKendree junior Alireza Yavari finished third in 1:35.14), followed by OC’s Victor Rosado (1:35.43), Wingate senior Marcel Snitko (1:36.04), Tampa fifth year’s Santiago Aguilera (1:36.17), Grand Valley senior Roger Miret Sala (1:36.50) and Saginaw Valley senior Alejandro Robles Ruiz (1:36.87).

Nova Southeastern dominated the 400 free relay, winning by nearly two seconds in 3:38.34.
Molly Morfelt led off with a 54.11 split, followed by Savanna Best (1:00.57), Aleksandra Maslova (54.33) and Emilia Ronningdal (49.33).
Indy’s Kaitlyn McCoy, Celina Schmidt, Julia Magierowski and Johanna Buys took second in 3:40.25.
Carson-Newman was third with Kyla Blakemore, Bre Belcher, Manon Compagner and Kennadi King finishing in 3:41.57.
McKendree and Wayne State were disqualified.

McKendree used a stunning anchor leg to win the 400 medley relay to close out the session with a time of 3:08.08.
Gregg Lichinsky anchored the race in 41.74, a second faster than any other anchor, allowing McKendree to overtake Drury for the title.
Litchinsky was joined by Patryk Rozenek, Filipe Pinheiro and Jackson Lustig.
Drury was second with Nathan Bighetti, Davi Mourao, Dominik Karacic and Khameron Glass finishing in 3:08.85.
Findlay’s Bruce Keener, Juniel Garcia Ruiz, Timothy Stollings and Montanomilo Marrugo finished third in 3:09.43.
Nova Southeastern and Delta State were disqualified.
