The NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships kicked off its first day of prelims on Day 2.
The events for the Day 2 prelims are the women’s and men’s 200 IM, 50 free and the early heats of the 1000 free.
NCAA DII Women’s 200 IM
Indy’s Celina Schmidt claimed the top seed in the 200 IM on the women’s side, getting to the wall in 2:00.30.
It looks to be a close final as Drury juniors Claire Conover (2:00.32) and Mellie Wijk (2:00.42) were with in 12 hundredths of second this morning.
Nova Southeastern sophomore Emilia Ronningdal was also under 2:01, going a 2:00.71 to take the fourth seed.

Colorado Mesa junior Benjamin Sampson was a second ahead of the field to claim the top seed in the men’s 200 IM.
Sampson got to the wall in 1:44.11. It was two seconds off his seed time.
Drury took the next three spots with Davi Mourao (1:45.12), Joao Noguiera (1:45.75) and Alejandro Villarejo (1:46.21).
Tampa senior Santiago Corredor claimed the fifth seed in 1:46.27.

Henderson State junior Kiara Pozvai took the second seed in 22.64.
Lynn junior Laura Dekonick was next at 22.81, followed by Augustana’s Bryn Greenwaldt (22.90) and Drury’s Ashlyn Moore (22.97).

Henderson State grabbed the top two seeds in the men’s 50 free.
Senior Lamar Taylor got to the wall first in 19.03, just two tenths from the DII record.
Teammate Jack Armstrong was the second seed in 19.48.
Tampa fifth-year Ian Cooper took the third seed in 19.51, followed by Florida Southern’s Kyle Micallef (19.57), Tampa’s Tibor Tinstan (19.66), Tampa’s Blake Moran (19.70), Lewis’ Ahmed Ismail (19.76) and Nova Southeastern’s Marcel Snitko (19.78).
There was a three-way tie for ninth at 19.81.
