NCAA Div. I: Utah Sweeps Wright State
DAYTON, Ohio, Nov. 16. BOTH of Utah’s swimming and diving teams beat Wright State on Saturday.
The men’s team won by a score of 125-112, led by three-event winner Cody Rempfer who won the 200 IM (1:55.31), the 100 Butterfly (50.93) and was part of the 200 Medley Relay team which set a pool record with a time of (1:34.14). Other members of that team were David Fleisch, Evan Castro and Jon Larsen. Larsen a freshman also won the 100 Free (45.51). His time was also a pool record breaking a record that had stood for 13 years.
The women beat the Raiders by a score of 132-99. Loren Sweeny won two events, the 200 IM (2:12.22) along with the 500 Free (5:09.05).
Neringa Statkeviciute was the other two event winner for the women with a victory in the 50 Free (24.93); she was also a member of the winning 200 Medley Relay team (1:49.63) with teammates Tessa Greegor, Meghan Demchuk and Melissa Young.
The men’s record is now 3-3, while the women improve to 6-2.
Next up for the Utes is a meet with the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday, November 23 at 4:00 p.m. at the Ute Natatorium. It will be their first home meet of the season.
