INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, October 1. SEVERAL rising stars in the American diving ranks will get some crucial international competition experience later this month at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Malaysia, including two-time NCAA champion Laura Ryan.
Ryan completed her collegiate career last March for the Georgia Bulldogs by winning both springboard events at the NCAA championships. The 22-year-old has the most international experience among the roster of 12, having competed in the Grand Prix previously, and collected two medals at last summer’s World University Games.
Three of the athletes traveling to Malaysia will be in the middle of their collegiate seasons, and all three attend universities in Florida. Sam Dorman and Tanner Wilfong both represent the University of Miami, while Katrina Young is a Florida State Seminole. Zach Cooper is the only high school-aged diver on the roster, and at 16 years old will gain loads of international experience for his future.
