NC State Wolfpack Add Another 2022 Verbal from Iowa State Runner-Up Meghan Donald
NEW COMMIT: NC State has added yet another impressive addition to their growing Class of 2026 after receiving a verbal commitment from Junior National qualifier Meghan Donald of Ames, Iowa.
She will join Grace Monahan, Kennedy Noble, Emma Hastings and Katherine Helms in Raleigh at the start of the 2022-23 season.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am extremely excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at North Carolina State University!! Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates who have encouraged me and helped me to reach this point. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team! GO PACK!”
Donald trains year-round with Ames Cyclones Aquatic Club and won the 50/100 free combo at Iowa Seniors in February where she also recorded three additional top-4 showings. She recorded two best times at Juniors West last December and grabbed gold in the 200m breast at Iowa LCM Seniors in Summer 2019.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.12
- 100 free – 50.83
- 100 back – 55.15
- 200 back – 1:59.23
- 100 breast – 1:04.12
- 200 IM – 2:07.09
Currently a junior at Ames High School, Donald is already a four-time individual Iowa State Championship finalist. She was the runner-up in the 50 free and placed fourth in the 100 breast as a sophomore while taking seventh and sixth, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.
In 2019, she led off her teams winning 4×50 free relay in 23.70 while anchored their runner-up 4×50 medley relay in 23.03. Her team finished second at the state meet last year.
Even with just under two years to go before arriving in Raleigh in the fall of 2022, Donald will add valuable depth both individually and on relays to a program that knows how to produce top sprinters. At the 2020 ACC Championships, the Wolfpack finished second overall in the team standings behind Virginia.
