NC State Receives Verbal from Colorado 4A State Champion Katey Lewicki for 2020
NEW COMMIT: Louisville, Colorado backstroker and current high school junior Katey Lewicki has handed her verbal commitment to NC State as a member of the Wolfpack’s class of 2024.
Lewicki swims year-round with Elevation Athletics and owns the U.S. Open cut in the 100 back with the Winter Nationals standard in the 200 back. She recently placed fourth in the 200 back at Phoenix Speedo Sectionals and took 19th in that event at Juniors West in December. This past summer, she raced both backstroke events at Junior Nationals after recording a pair of best times at the Colorado LCM Senior Championships.
Also competing for Monarch High School, Lewicki is a five-time Colorado State Championship finalist. She won the 100 back and took third in the 200 IM as a junior at the 4A meet after placing fifth and 10th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season at the 5A championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to NC State! I can’t wait to continue my academic and swimming career at such an amazing place with a great group of coaches and teammates. Thank you to my friends, family and coaches for all their support! Go pack!”
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 25.21
- 100 back – 54.36
- 200 back – 1:58.12
- 100 fly – 56.12
- 100 free – 52.80
- 200 IM – 2:05.11
Even with over a year to go before arriving in Raleigh, Lewicki will add valuable depth to the Wolfpack’s backstroke group and will join a training group that’ll include Emma Muzzy, Kylee Alons and Katharine Berkoff.
