NC State Picks Up 2024 Verbal Pledge From National Junior Teamer Erika Pelaez
NEW COMMIT: North Carolina State University has received its first verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and it’s a big one: versatile U.S. National Junior Team member Erika Pelaez of Hialeah, Florida.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m blessed to announce my verbal commitment to North Carolina State University! Thank you to my family, Coach Adam, Coach Eric, and my teammates for their guidance during this process. And a special thank you to the staff and team at NC state! So excited to become part of the Wolfpack!! Go Pack!!”
Pelaez dos her club swimming with Eagle Aquatics and had a phenomenal showing at Phillips 66 Nationals this past summer where she placed sixth in the 100m back, seventh in the 100m free and 10th in both the 50m free and 100m fly. She also raced to 10th in the 50m back at the International Team Trials with four additional top-22 showings.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 52.74
- 100 back – 52.26
- 50 free – 22.29
- 100 free – 48.62
- 200 free – 1:46.63
- 200 back – 1:55.12
- 200 IM – 1:59.65
- 400 IM – 4:17.00
A homeschooled junior, she competed at the Florida 1A State Championships under South Florida Home Educated Athletic Teams. There, she earned gold in the 50 free and 100 back in 2021 while winning the 50/100 free in 2020.
