NC State Keeps Local Products Henry Lee, JR Taylor In State for 2023-24
NEW COMMITS: The Wolfpack of NC State has added two new in-state verbal commitments for the fall of 2023: Henry Lee and JR Taylor, both local products of Raleigh.
Both talented swimmers will join Mitchell Ledford, Sam Flack and Will Heck in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2027.
Under head coach Braden Holloway, NC State finished second at the 2021 ACC Championships and eighth at the NCAA Championships.
HENRY LEE
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at NC State University! I would like to say thank you to my coaches, teammates, friends, and family who helped me get here! GO PACK”
Lee does his club swimming with the TAC Titans and attends Mizzou Academy virtually. He placed 10th in the 100m fly this past summer at Huntsville Futures after finaling in two events at Greensboro Sectionals. Back in March, he finished ninth in the 100 breast at Cary Sectionals.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 55.55
- 200 breast – 2:03.25
- 100 fly – 50.97
- 50 free – 21.97
- 100 free – 46.37
- 200 free – 1:42.99
- 200 IM – 1:53.20
- 400 IM – 4:07.79
J.R. TAYLOR
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at North Carolina State University! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and especially my teammates! Go Pack”
Taylor trains year-round with the YMCA of the Triangle Area and finished 17th in the 100m breast at the Speedo Summer East Championships in August, also posting a trio of top-8 finishes at the TYR 18&U Spring Cup in Orlando. Currently a junior at Broughton High School, he earned gold in the 100 breast and bronze in the 200 IM at the 2021 North Carolina 4A State Championships.
His best times include:

- 200 breast – 2:00.17
- 200 IM – 1:51.75
- 400 IM – 3:58.22
