National Junior Team Member Grace Ariola Verbally Commits to Texas Longhorns
The University of Texas women have received a verbal commitment from National Junior Team member Grace Ariola. Ariola will head south after graduating from Illinois’ Normal Community High School in 2018.
A member of the 2016-2017 National Junior Team in the 100 backstroke, Ariola’s top SCY times are:
- 50 Back 25.06
- 100 Back 53.04
- 200 Back 1:54.60
- 50 Free 22.20
- 100 Free 48.98
Ariola has already gotten this long course season off to a successful start, finishing second in the 100 backstroke at the Arena Pro Series meet in Atlanta.
Two of this year’s three core members of Texas’ backstroke group will be juniors when Ariola arrives in Austin. Claire Adams (51.19) and Kaitlyn Harty (54.07) followed senior teammate Tasija Karosas (50.96) in a sweep of the 100 backstroke at Big 12s this year.
In the 200 backstroke Ariola would have finished fifth at this year’s conference championship, behind Longhorns Karosas, Adams, Harty, and sophomore Quinn Carrozza.
She joins Julia Cook in the Longhorns’ Class of 2022. Ariola also joins club teammates Melissa Pish and Noelle Peplowski in making early verbal commitments.
