Nareg Minassian of Crimson Aquatics Gives Verbal Pledge to Yale for 2022
NEW COMMIT: Yale University has officially begun their Class of 2026 recruiting after receiving a verbal commitment* from Junior National qualifier Nareg Minassian of Newton, Mass.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to swim and study at Yale University! Thank you to my parents, sister, friends, coaches, the gentlemen, and everyone else who has supported me along the way. #boolaboola”
A versatile swimmer, Minassian does his club swimming with Crimson Aquatics and earned a best time at the 18&U Winter Championships – Massachusetts earlier this month. He earned 100% best times at Juniors East last December and was the runner-up in the 100 free at New England Age Groups in March.
In Summer 2019, he had a great showing at Geneva Futures where he recorded four lifetime bests and finished 17th in the 50m free.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 56.58
- 200 breast – 2:01.03
- 200 IM – 1:51.74
- 400 IM – 4:01.04
- 100 fly – 50.90
- 50 free – 20.87
- 100 free – 45.50
- 200 free – 1:43.77
- 500 free – 4:38.98
Minassian will add valuable depth to Yale’s lineup when he arrives on campus in the fall of 2022. His best times are already fast enough to score in the B-final of the 200 breast, as well as the C-final of the 50/100/500 free, 100 fly, and 400 IM at the conference level.
Under head coach Jim Henry, the Bulldogs finished third overall in the team standings at the 2020 Ivy League Championships.
*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER:* A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
