Name That Swimmer! Upcoming Hall of Fame Inductee the Answer to Most Recent Challenge
Last week’s edition of Name That Swimmer! challenged our readership to sort through the information below and identify the athlete responsible for these impressive accomplishments.
- NCAA champion at Auburn University
- Five-time Olympian
- Seven-time Olympic medalist and two-time Olympic champion
- World-record setter in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke
- Eight-time medalist at the World Championships and three-time world champion
- International medalist in the 200 IM and 400 IM
- Heavily involved with the International Olympic Committee
Well, you either boast tremendous swimming knowledge or your research skills were on point because 66% of those who cast votes knew that Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry was the correct answer. Coventry enjoyed a sterling career in the pool and now gives back to the sport through her role with the International Olympic Committee.
Next month, Coventry will be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Fort Lauderdale. The honor makes total sense for someone who medaled at the Olympic Games in four events, including back-to-back gold medals in the 200 backstroke in 2004 and 2008.
Here is a look at final voting from our most recent Name That Swimmer! challenge.
