NAKAMURA SETS WORLD RECORD IN 50 BACK

TOKYO, April 23. Japan's Mai Nakamura, 20, set a world record of 28.67 seconds in the women's 50 meter backstroke in a preliminary heat on the final day of competition at the Japanese National Championships.
Her time erased the old mark of 28.69, set just 15 days ago, by Nina Zhivanevskaya, the Soviet-born Spanish star in Madrid.
