N.C. State Recruit Grace Sheble Claims 200 IM Title at NCSA Champs
At the NCAA Women’s Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina State will finish second in the team standings to Atlantic Coast Conference rival Virginia, and the Wolfpack will be getting stronger next year.
On the final night of the National Club Swimming Association Spring Championships (NCSA) in Orlando, N.C. State recruit Grace Sheble claimed victory in the 200-yard individual medley. Touching the wall in 1:56.99, Sheble (NOVA) topped Letitia Sim (1:57.43) and Zoe Dixon (1:57.90). For good measure, Caroline Sheble, the winner’s twin sister and another N.C. State recruit, was eighth.
In sprint action, Alexis Mulvihill came away with a triumph in the 50 freestyle. Mulvihill covered her two laps in 22.58 to beat Joanie Cash (22.78) and Lucy Thomas (22.84). For the men, Ben Wiegand clocked 20.00 for the title.
In the women’s 50 butterfly, Campbell Stoll and Levenia Sim were the only swimmers to under the 24-second mark, with Stoll taking the victory in 23.76. Sim checked in at 23.98 while Letitia Sim was third in 24.02. For the men, gold was claimed by Tiago Pereira in 21.43, which just clipped the 21.48 of William Hayon. In the men’s 200 individual medley, Nathaniel Germonprez secured a convincing win, his time of 1:45.86 more than two seconds clear of runnerup Josh Zuchowski (1:48.29).
