Coach Durden also discusses at length how important his assistant coaches will be in creating the best environment possible for Team USA to perform in Kazan at World Championships. Among the 22 athletes on the Worlds men’s team are four of Durden’s own athletes – post grads Nathan Adrian, Tom Shields and Anthony Ervin and Cal Sophomore, Ryan Murphy. Coach Durden talks about the differences in training for the post-grads, versus Murphy, who is in the middle of his college season.
The topic then switches to the extremely talented incoming freshman class coming to Cal next season and the excitement surrounding that recruiting class.
Dave Durden is currently in his eighth season as Cal’s Mens Head Coach. During that time, his Golden Bears have won three NCAA Team Championships.
