Molly Hannis has returned the U.S. from Hangzhou, China, after receiving word that her father died, according to Rowdy Gaines, who reported it on television.
Hannis was going to swim the 50 breast at the 2018 Short Course World Championships, but scratched the event and will likely not compete the rest of the meet. She also was scheduled to swim the 100 breast and probably the medley relays.
Katie Meili is the other U.S. breaststroker at short-course worlds and took the fifth spot in the finals. She will likely swim in all of the medley relays without Hannis.
To the mercy of God
The entire extended Tennessee Vol Swim Family will have Molly and family in their thoughts and prayers
Prayers for Miss Molly, her entire family, friends and loved ones.
My heart is broken for this athlete. Family first. She is young and she will be back.
Very sad
Sending prayers. How sad
Praying for the Hannis family.

So sorry for this young lady

I can completely understand the pain of having to leave a meet for the same reason.
