Mizzou Swimming and Diving Raises Over $18,000 For Swim Across America
The Mizzou swimming and diving programs raised $18,031 for Swim Across America, an organization that hosts benefit swimming events across the country to raise money cancer research. Missouri took part in the second annual St. Louis Open Water Swim at the Innsbrook Resort in Innsbrook, Missouri, on Aug. 26, where the Tigers volunteered as angel swimmers to offer encouragement to other swimmers as they finished their swim.
As a whole, the St. Louis Open Water Swim raised over $133,000 for Siteman Cancer Center. Last year at the inaugural event, the Tigers raised $11,474, blowing away their initial goal of $5,000.
Swim Across America is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit. SAA was founded in 1987 with a mission of hosting swims in communities where there is a major cancer research institution. Proceeds from the swim are donated to the community beneficiary so the beneficiary may conduct clinical trials and research that will lead to new treatments with a hope of curing cancer.
