Ellie Flanagan has given her verbal commitment to the University of Kansas, according to a tweet posted by her team, Columbia Swim Club. She will join Lauryn Parrish who announced her commitment to the Jayhawks last weekend.
The Rock Bridge High School Senior is a strong short axis swimmer with best events in the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke.
Flanagan’s best times:
100/200 Breaststroke: 1:05.14/2:19.00
100/200 Butterfly: 56.36/2:02.86
Those times make Flanagan an immediate scorer for the Jayhawks at the Big 12 Championships. While a 200 breaststroke/200 butterfly double could make for a tough last day of the Conference meet, Flanagan would have scored 16 points, finishing 13th and seventh respectively, last year. She would have also finished in the B final in both 100s.
She has had success at the high school level, swimming the butterfly leg of the winning 200 medley relay at the 2016 Missouri Girls High School State Championships. Flanagan was also third in the 100 butterfly (56.93) and fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:07.47).
