ERIE, Pennsylvania, October 7. BACKSTROKER Griffin Schaetzle announced a verbal commitment to attend the University of Missouri next year, moving from northern Pennsylvania to central Missouri.
Schaetzle was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke at the Pennsylvania AA high school state championships in February. He posted a lifetime best 49.86 in prelims and 50.53 in finals. His 200-yard backstroke has room to grow, with a 1:48.57 lifetime best from last December’s junior nationals.
Schaetzle will join a good group of backstrokers at Missouri, led by current sophomore and school record holder Carter Griffin.
Pumped to share that I am committed to the University of Missouri!!! #Tigers #SEC
