Missouri State Adds Verbal from Sectional Finalist Sami Roemer
NEW COMMIT: Bettendorf, Iowa native Samantha “Sami” Roemer has pledged her verbal intention to continue her academic and swimming career at Missouri State University as a member of the Bears’ class of 2024.
She will also join Anna Lucas and Anika Lam in Springfield at the start of the 2020-21 season.
Roemer, who swims year-round with Piranhas Swim Club, capped off her long course season with three best times at NCSAs this past summer after registering five top-10 finishes at Niagara LCM Championships. Last winter, she raced six events at Rochester Speedo Sectionals where her highest finish was a 15th-place showing in the 100m back. Also competing for Bettendorf High School, Roemer finished seventh in the 100 back and eighth in the 200 IM during her junior season at the Iowa State Championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at MSU! Thank you to my coaches, friends, and family for helping and supporting me along the way! I can’t wait to be a bear!”
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 27.38
- 100 back – 57.85
- 200 back – 2:08.54
- 100 breast – 1:05.70
- 200 breast – 2:24.09
Roemer will add valuable depth to the Bears’ backstroke and breaststroke groups next fall. Under head coach Dave Collins, Missouri State earned their third-straight, and 15th overall, Missouri Valley Conference Championship title last season.
