LOS ANGELES, July 9. THE Los Angeles Times is reporting that a two-alarm fire that gutted the locker and pool equipment rooms at the famed Mission Viejo Aquatic Center last Wednesday, was the work of arsonists.
Damage was estimated at about $230,000 by fire officials, but no one was hurt in the blaze. Some 35 firefighters were required to put out the fire.
According to The Times, the fire started in an outside storage area and spread to the locker room and the pool equipment room, where the pool's pump and filtering systems are kept. The buildings were damaged, but the pool systems are intact.
