Midland University Signs Three More For Inaugural Season
FREMONT, Neb. – The Midland University swim team has added three more swimmers to the roster for its inaugural 2017-18 campaign. Matthew Ginger, Trent Mischo and Carter Hites have all signed with the growing class of Warrior swimmers.
“All three of these student-athletes are outstanding young men,” said Midland head coach Ryan Bubb. “We are excited to have Matthew, Trent and Carter as a part of the family in the fall. They all bring something a little different to the table and will be great leaders for the team.”
Ginger will graduate from Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, Nebraska and will bring a strong sprint freestyle presence to the team. As a captain for Creighton Prep’s swim team in 2017, Ginger led the team to its 11th straight boy’s title.
He also swims for iNspire swim club based in Omaha. “I chose Midland because of the great community aspect that it provides,” Ginger said.
Mischo, a product of Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska, was an individual runner-up at the Nebraska State High School Meet in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. He holds Millard North High School records in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
Mischo will be arriving on campus in the fall. “I wanted to sign at Midland University because I think it will provide me with the opportunity to be a part of something big,” he said.
Hites currently attends Burke High School in Omaha, Nebraska and was a captain his senior year for the Bulldogs. He was consolation finalist at the 2017 Nebraska High School State meet and qualified to swim at the Region VIII Sectional Championship meet in Columbia, Missouri in March.
When asked about his decision, Hites said, “I chose Midland because of the opportunity it has for me; being on an inaugural swim team as well as they have the major I want. It is the best fit and I feel I can succeed in the classroom as well as the pool.”
