STANFORD, California, October 16. Jack Walsh, the second-ranked recruit from Michigan and 26th overall in Collegeswimming.com‘s 2015 recruit rankings, has verbally committed to attend Stanford University next fall.
Walsh is an Ann Arbor, Mich. native and attends Detroit Catholic Central High School; he trains with the Plymouth-Canton Cruisers in Chelsea, Mich. With several national cuts already, Walsh will be able to fill holes in the Cardinal lineup immediately next year. His best events include the 100 back (48.05), 200 back (1:46.82), 200 IM (1:48.54), 400 IM (3:52.10), 100 fly (49.58) and 200 fly (1:48.14). He’s also a solid mid-distance freestyler with a personal best of 1:42.25 in the 200 free.
Walsh will have plenty of events to pick from for championship meets next year as his 100 back, 200 back, 200 fly and 400 IM times all would have made the B final at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships. His 200 IM and 100 fly times would have placed in the C final. He’ll be a huge asset at dual meets as well with the ability to score points in so many events.
How about coaches who seriously needed lightening up??? They yell, scream, cuss on the pool deck yet no one touches them.
