Michigan Snags Commitment from Parkland Aquatic Club’s Danny Berlitz
NEW COMMIT: After originally committing to Auburn, Drum, Penn. native Danny Berlitz has officially committed to the University of Michigan and will arrive in Ann Arbor this fall.
Berlitz swims year-round with Parkland Aquatic Club and owns six Winter Juniors cuts with the U.S. Open standard in both IMs. He most recently competed at the RMSC Holiday Invitational where he won the 200 breast with five additional top-3 finishes. He finished 17th in the 400m IM at Junior Nationals this past summer after recording five lifetime bests at Mid-Atlantic LCM Seniors. Also competing for Marian Catholic High School, Berlitz is a five-time Pennsylvania 2A State Championship finalist. He won the 200 IM and was the 500 free runner-up as a junior after winning the latter during his sophomore season.
He told Swimming World:
“I am excited to announce that I officially signed to swim and further my education at the University of Michigan, a lifelong dream since I started swimming. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for all their help along the way. Go Blue“
His best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:49.97
- 400 IM – 3:56.50
- 500 free – 4:28.67
- 1650 free – 15:34.62
- 200 breast – 2:02.84
- 200 back – 1:49.81
When he suits up for the Wolverines as a member of the class of 2023, Berlitz will join an IM training group that’ll include Tommy Cope and Charlie Swanson as well as a distance free squad led by Ricardo Vargas.
