Michigan Grabs 2025 Verbal From Chilean National Record Holder Montse Spielmann

NEW COMMIT: The University of Michigan has received a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Montse Spielmann of San Antonio, Texas.

Spielmann represents Chile internationally and is the national record holder in the 100m fly (1:01.26). She represented Chile at the Pan American Games in Santiago, swimming on two national record relays (4x200m free and 4x100m medley).

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am hyped to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan! Nothing I do would be possible without the undeniable support of my parents, brothers, teammates, and coaches. With that being said, I cannot wait for four years at the GREATEST UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD! GO BLUE”

Spielmann does her club swimming with Alamo Area Aquatics Association and placed 19th in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals this past summer. She took 15th in the 200 fly at Juniors West last December before going on to take second in that event, as well as fourth in the 500 free, at College Station Sectionals in March.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 53.42
  • 200 fly – 1:58.38
  • 200 free – 1:48.40
  • 100 free – 50.42
  • 500 free – 4:52.13
  • 1650 free – 17:00.80

Currently a junior at Ronald Reagan High School, Spielmann won the 100 fly and took third in the 200 free at the UIL 6A State Championships last season. She placed ninth in the 100 fly during her freshman season. She’s also a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
