Miami Women Crush Iowa in Midweek Dual
The University of Miami women’s team hosted Iowa Tuesday in Coral Gables, and the Hurricanes more than doubled-up the score of the visiting Hawkeyes, winning by a 199-95 margin.
The Miami team of Leah Treglia, Simone Moll, Ashlyn Massey and Giulia Carvalho finished 1.63 seconds ahead of the field in the 200 medley relay, clocking 1:42.57. Carvalho picked up the top spot in the 100 backstroke, her time of 56.84 six hundredths ahead of teammate Tayla Jonker, and Moll captured first in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.87). Massey cruised in the 200 butterfly, touching in 2:02.26.
Miami’s Adrianna Cera topped the 1000 freestyle in 10:15.14, and she won later on in the 500 free (5:02.11). Savannah Barr followed with a win in the 200 free. Jacey Hinton finished first in the 50 free (24.03), followed by teammate Jane Fitzgerald taking first over 100 yards (51.76).
Carvalho’s second win of the meet came in the 100 fly, her time of 54.85 more than three-and-a-half seconds clear of the field. In diving, Charia Pellacani won on 1-meter (321.15) and 3-meter (327.90). To conclude the meet, the team of Fitzgerald, Carvahlo, Cera and Barr clocked 3:28.38 to win the 400 free relay.
Iowa’s Ansley Galvin came from behind to win the 200 back in 2:03.74, and teammate Olivia Swalley cruised to first place in the 200 IM (2:04.90).
